Lead Youth Worker - Kingsteignton Youth Centre

KYC youth club at Kingsteignton Youth Centre has a vacancy for a lead youth worker for 12 hours a week. 

The Youth Centre provides excellent facilities for young people including a sports hall, pool and disco room, art room, computer room, meeting rooms, kitchen, and lounge area.

We are looking for someone with a JNC recognised qualification preferably to professional youth worker level. 

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work professionally and effectively with young people and their parents, KYC staff and volunteers, other organisations, and statutory agencies.

They must have good IT skills and able to facilitate safe and appropriate online gaming by young people including use of play stations and X boxes.

We will offer competitive pay, negotiable according to qualifications and experience.

As KYC youth leader you will be responsible for planning, resourcing, and delivering a successful youth club experience. Currently organised around two evening sessions each week one for younger and one for older young people. 

Recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers. Supervision and support to the assistant youth support worker, sessional worker, and volunteers.

Engaging actively with the wider community to promote the youth club including local schools.

Engaging with young people about their needs and developing their ideas on how the youth club might provide new experiences and opportunities.

Duties include, being a member of the Youth Centre management committee and liaising with trustees to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the service.

Making and presenting written reports on youth club activitiesand performance to bimonthly meetings.

Risk management and assessments, safeguarding and data control, some aspects of health and safety including fire safety.

Managing the operational budget and ensuring accurate recording and reporting of youth club income and expenditure.
